Implant-Supported Overdentures
These are basically the same as a bridge, built onto a strong metal base structure, but with the difference from a bridge being that they can be removed by un-clipping them from the supporting implants. If these were to break, which is less likely that an “ALL ON 4” bridge, at least they can be replaced with a new over-denture at a fraction of the price of a new “ALL ON 4” bridge.
Since over-dentures are semi-fixed in place they will not come lose like standard dentures.
There are several methods of fixing over-dentures to the supporting implants:
- By fixing a bar into the over-denture that clips on to ball abutments.
- By a ‘Snap On’ systems that can be released with a little force.
- By a ‘Push Pin’ release system.
