Dental Implant Clinical Assessment
The key to successful dental implant treatment is comprehensive planning.
In a 50 minute appointment, a qualified and experienced implant dentist reviews a patient’s medical history and carries out a thorough oral examination, including gums and oral hygiene.
If a patient is a suitable dental implant candidate, a dental 3D Cone Beam CT (CBCT) scan is taken to give an accurate measurement of bone volumes – this helps determine a definitive treatment plan.
Our clinician will then go through the treatment plan options and answer any questions. Afterwards the patient meets a treatment coordinator to discuss fees and appointment availability. A formal treatment plan will follow within two working days.
For more complex treatment plans, a follow up appointment may be required for a review or impressions for diagnostic study models.
The cost of any further investigations is explained to the patient. Part of the treatment planning process may involve the use of a surgical planning appliance to look at the available bone for implants (£125–195). In some cases, the use of a diagnostic set-up of teeth in wax (£50-£350) is also required to ensure optimal function and appearance of the completed treatment.
The cost for the dental implant assessment is £125.
*Fee includes: thorough oral & gum assessment, 3D dental Cone Beam CT (CBCT) scan / x-rays taken in-house – as appropriate, detailed treatment plan with multiple treatment options and final costs. Fee also includes all 3D dental CBCT scans and x-rays throughout the entire course of treatment.
3D dental CBCT scans alone can cost up to £300 at clinics with similarly qualified clinicians, so we feel that £125 is very reasonable.
We have invested in our own 3D dental CBCT scanners at all locations, so you do not have the inconvenience of being referred out for the CBCT scan.
If you are seeking a second opinion and have a current CBCT scan then the dental implant clinical assessment (usually £125) is FREE of charge at our Cornwall, Devon, Bristol, Midlands and Manchester clinics. In our London (Harley Street) and Marlow clinics, the clinical assessment is a nominal £75.
Second opinion patients come to DentalCarePlus for many reasons, usually because they want to be treated by an experienced implant dentist, at a dedicated dental implant provider at prices over 20% lower than the UK average.
This offer does not apply to dental implant remedial assessments – i.e. patients who have failing implants or need their dental implant restoration (that they have had placed elsewhere) completed.

Remedial dental implant assessment
For patients with failing implants or who need a dental implant restoration (crown, bridge or denture) remediated or completed
In a 60 minute appointment, a qualified and experienced implant dentist reviews a patient’s medical history and carries out a thorough oral examination.
A dental 3D Cone Beam CT (CBCT) scan is usually to measure bone volumes.
The clinician will then go through the treatment plan options and answer any questions. Afterwards the patient meets a treatment coordinator to discuss fees and appointment availability, though sometimes it may be necessary for us to further investigate. A formal treatment plan will follow.
There can be many reasons for dental implant failures, whether biological or mechanical. In many cases, failing implants present complex issues and further investigations are necessary before a formal treatment plan can be given. For instance, treatment of periodontal (gum) disease may be necessary as a part of the remedial treatment plan.
For more complex treatment plans, a follow up appointment may be required for a review or impressions for diagnostic study models. The cost of any further investigations is explained to the patient.
For patients with periodontal (gum) disease
Our fee for a periodontal assessment is £150.
Fees include all scans and x-rays throughout the entire course of treatment.
