How confident are you when it comes to flashing that alluring smile when it matters most?
Mother nature can of course be kind, but for most of us we need a helping hand! Smiles which radiate happiness and confidence come from within. However if that confidence is eroded by tarnished teeth it can have a detrimental effect on the way we are perceived by our peers, employers and the public at large. Fortunately, with the revolutionary new teeth whitening system, your future is looking brighter, because your smile can be up to 7 shades whiter – and what’s more it’s at a price which will suit your pocket!
Just imagine being able to seal that sales deal with a dazzling smile. Or imagine attending that all important interview where first impressions really count with the flash of White Teeth. Perhaps you’re looking forward to that first date with a little trepidation or looking forward to your Wedding Day hoping the cameras will be kind! Whatever your reason for dreaming of that dazzling smile, it is only a phone call away.
How Teeth Whitening Works
All you have to do is sit back, relax and in under an hour you will leave with a dazzling smile which will not only help you regain your confidence but also your sex appeal! The entire procedure is very simple! No drills, no injections and no damage to the enamel of your teeth. Results can last up to 3 years depending on diet, lifestyle and oral hygiene.
How Does The Whitening Gel Actually Whiten Teeth?
The main ingredient in all teeth whitening products is hydrogen peroxide. This hydrogen peroxide turns into water and oxygen. The oxygen penetrates the enamel and almost all types of stains are lifted out of the porous enamel. Measured results of testing are indisputable. In short, the whitening gel is activated by the moisture within the mouth and it is in this activated state that it releases the oxygen to the teeth and the whitening process begins. The power source speeds up the whitening process.
Why Do Teeth Get Dark?
There are many causes. The most common include genetics, aging, consumption of staining substances (smoking, coffee, tea, colas), tetracycline (antibiotic) staining, excessive fluoride, and old fillings. Whitening toothpaste can remove stain that is on the outside of the teeth. This is called extrinsic staining, (external staining). However, whitening toothpaste will not change the colour or intrinsic staining, (internal staining), of the teeth. That is why teeth whitening is so popular.
How Teeth Whitening Works
A whitening gel is placed over your teeth. As the active ingredient in the whitening gel is broken down, molecular oxygen enters the enamel and bleaches the coloured substances. The structure of the tooth is not changed; only the tooth colour is made lighter and whiter.
Who Can Benefit From Teeth Whitening?
Almost anyone over the age of 15, who has natural teeth, who wants a more confident vibrant smile. However, for those that are pregnant, or nursing mothers, you should contact your doctor before using any teeth whitening products.
How often would I need to repeat the process?
This depends on how well you maintain oral hygiene and what you consume. We normally advise that results will last up to 2 years, however, for smokers, coffee drinkers, etc, this time will be reduced. However, one short application will bring the whiteness back.
Will Teeth Whitening Damage The Enamel Of The Teeth?
Research continues with regard to teeth whitening products and procedures. However, research data to date, shows there is no risk to the enamel of the teeth, other than the advised 24 hours of temporary sensitivity.
Does Whitening Work On Veneers, Crowns, Bridges or Fillings?
The whitening products and services will not whiten crowns, veneers, bridges, fillings. However, they will clean them to their original colour. Nevertheless, it must be noted, that the users own teeth could become whiter than the colour of their veneers, crowns, bridges or white fillings, so the whitening would be stopped at the point where the teeth match the colour.
Will Teeth Whitening Hurt The Soft Tissue, (Gums)?
People with periodontal disease, (gum disease), or excessive caries, (cavities), should be treated for these conditions prior to using any form of teeth whitening products, or services. The active ingredient in the gel itself is safe, but if prolonged sensitivity to the soft tissue, (gums), does occur for more than 24 hours – it is normally due to an existing problem. GC Tooth Moose that we can supply free of charge is recommended for reducing oral sensitivity after Teeth Whitening and a Scale & Polish. (This is not suitable for patients who have an allergy to milk protein) For the small percentage of users who experience increased sensitivity to hot and cold, or minor gum irritations, GC Tooth Mousse can relieve any sensitivity.
Do I need to do anything before my appointment?
It is advisable that all clients have a Check-Up and a Scale & Polish preferably within the last four to eight weeks, but not within one week before a teeth whitening appointment, and fillings should be done prior to teeth whitening.
What Different Techniques Are There To Whiten Teeth?
Over the past several years teeth whitening has undergone some modifications giving way to two main types of procedures:
1. Power Whitening / Power Bleaching Procedure:
This procedure is only carried out by a Dentist. The gel is activated by the light source, which allows the oxygen released from the hydrogen peroxide to penetrate the enamel, a lot deeper and a lot faster than would be the case with home bleaching. The full treatment normally consists of two 20 minute applications. The results are dramatic and some clients can achieve up to an amazing 7 shades lighter.
2. Home Kits:
This process is self administered - its main ingredient is carbamide peroxide which decomposes into hydrogen peroxide, the active ingredient in all teeth whitening products. The usual strength of carbamide peroxide a home bleaching kit is 20% and the decomposition rate is a third. Therefore, a 16% carbamide peroxide home bleaching kit will release only about 6% of hydrogen peroxide. • A bleaching tray must be worn for several hours per day (or overnight), for some weeks, for the effects of the teeth whitening process to take place. Many Home Bleaching Kits sold by other dentists cost more than our Rapid One Hour ‘In-surgery’ treatment.
