What is Soft Tissue Grafting?
If gum tissue is lost due to periodontal gum disease it has the effect of receding the gum-line giving the appearance that the teeth have greater length than normal. This can be treated by grafting small patches of tissue - which is taken from the patient's pallet - to the gums where the tissue has receded. This procedure does not only improve the appearance of the teeth but also prevents further recession of the gums and protects the exposed dental roots from decay.
