Guided Bone and Tissue Regeneration
Guided bone regeneration (GBR) , and guided tissue regeneration ( GTR) are dental surgery procedures that use collagen membranes to contain the growth of new bone and gingival tissue within an area where there is insufficient bone or gingiva (gums) for function, esthetics or prosthetic restoration.
GBR helps the development of hard tissues and GTR for the soft tissues. GBR is predominantly used in the oral cavity to support new bone growth on an alveolar ridge to allow stability after the placement of dental implants. GBR is a reliable procedure, when the dental surgeon has the requisite experience.
