What is Bone Grafting?
Bone grafting is a cosmetic dental surgical procedure to replace bone which surrounds the root of a tooth when the original bone in the affected area has been decayed due to disease. The grafted material may be synthetic, taken from the patient or another donor.
The grafted bone acts as a foundation which enables the re-growth of the patients own bone and also helps to hold the existing tooth in place. The procedure is often carried out with tissue regeneration surgery in order to cover any exposed bone or roots.
